The following activities and events are scheduled:

*A new SRVA Newsletter has been published [see Region Info tab, for Volume 6, issue #1].

*The 2011 USAV Girls' Junior National Championships (GJNC) are coming to Atlanta from June 25 through July 4, 2011 at the Georgia World Congress Center. 

            At the recent SRVA Board of Directors meeting, many important decisions were made. Some of the most important changes are:

JUNIOR TRYOUT POLICY- the SRVA Board clarified the Junior Tryout policy to limit the tryout period for ALL junior age divisions to the ten days after the completion of each state’s High School Championship, and to establish a $50 limit for any payments to clubs during this period.

            THEREFORE, there may not be any tryouts prior to the above dates. This policy also prohibits SRVA Clubs from accepting any money over $50 during the tryout period, whether it is a post-dated check, a deposit, or any other money.

FEE INCREASE – The SRVA Board passed several motions to implement the $10 per person fee increase passed down from the USAV Board of Directors, and to add and/or amend several reduced fee categories created by the SRVA Board. For a full list of these fees, please see the new SRVA Handbook that will be posted on the SRVA website in the near future.

            However, fees of immediate interest to junior club directors are:

[1] New full membership fee is $60

[2] Financially disadvantaged fee is $30

             [This fee requires that an affidavit be sent in with the membership form]

[3] Boys player fee is $30 for the 2010-11 season only

[4] Youth membership for those age 10 and under is $30

            [this is a limited membership that will allow these members to compete in region-sanctioned tournaments, but NOT in a Qualifier or National Championship unless that member upgrades to a full membership]

[5] Junior Parent fee is $30.

SRVA JUNIOR REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – Registrations for the SRVA Junior Regional Championships will begin on 3/1 of each season and the deadline to enter will be four weeks prior to the tournament. Registrations will still not be accepted until each team has met its’ two tournament requirement. Teams are not guaranteed an entry into the tournament.

            The board also increased entry fees to $425 for the power divisions and $400 for the club divisions. This was done in an attempt to lessen the large financial losses experienced by the Region for this tournament.

At the recent 2010 USAV Open, Wasabi won the Womens' AA Championship, and Radiation won the Womens' U-Volley Championship. Muffin Tops finished 2nd in the Womens' BB division. In-Side-Out tied for 5th in the Mens' B division. Muffins N' Men tied for 3rd in the Reverse Coed BB/B division.
    Congratulations to these teams for their fine finishes and to all teams that represented the Southern Region.

If you need instructions to register for an SRVA  tournament, read the SRVA Tournament Procedures document under forms/tournaments. ADULTS- Review available tournaments under the adult tournaments tab, then complete and mail an entry form and fee (entry form is in the forms/tournament section).

An impact coaches certification is REQUIRED within a reasonable amount of time after participation as a coach in junior level activities. COACHES WHO ARE CURRENTLY IMPACT CERTIFIED ARE LISTED UNDER THE IMPACT CERTIFICATIONS SECTION OF THIS WEBSITE.
